The Machines of the 21st Century

It has been said that some people are better in understanding machines and some are better in understanding humans. The argument for this was always that humans are far more complex than machines and therefore have to be grasped by innate unconscious intuitions which some people can do better than others. But as the machines become more and more humanlike and knowledge about humans grows it becomes obvious how humans are not so machine-unlike as it seemed. So maybe it might be possible to understand them beyond some innate unconscious intuitions simply in terms of function? Then the above mentioned dichotomy would cease to make any sense.
